Coneflowers; Easy To Love, Easy To Care For!

Easy To Love:

Echinacea or coneflower as is the common name are hardy, drought tolerant garden perennial plants that are a joy to have in the garden. Echinaceas range in size from 12" tall to 40" tall depending on variety, and come in a wide range of colors. A summer blooming perennial, most echinaceas bloom July - October. The flowers are ideal for use as cut-flowers and can be dried to use in floral or craft arrangements.

Easy To Care For:

Plant echinaceas in full sun and well-drained soil. Leave 18-24 inches on either side of the plant for future growth. Provide steady irrigation through the summer. Fertilize once in the spring and again in the summer with a slow release, low nitrogen organic fertilizer. Dead-head spent blooms in the summer to promote more flowers, but do not cutback in the fall, rather leave the seed heads intact for wild birds to use as food in the winter.
